The Hard Facts

There have been many surveys conducted that have concluded evidence that women leadership is a genuine hardship and that change needs to happen.

Wa’ad Al Kandari, a member at Kuwait Public Relations Society, has protested that, “Although Kuwaiti women succeeded in various senior positions as ministers, lawmakers, undersecretaries and directors, chances to attain leading positions are still low and far from reaching the 50/50 percentage recommended by the UN” (Kuwait Times, 2018)

According to a survey conducted in the GCC, 80.2% of women feel that there is a barrier and challenges that come with career progression.

When asked what the barriers were:

  •  53.5% said lack of support from the organization

  • 47.4% mentioned Not willing to sacrifice other aspects, e.g. family, children etc.

  • 40.1% said spouse’s career has priority
